WHAT IS A TYPICAL SCHEDULE?

We start with Breakfast; then each group goes on a schedule with three meals and lodging.  Each group has two ice times, one dry-land, one strength training, one shooting and one meeting each week day.  Games are played on Saturday mornings.  There are 32 hockey related activities per week. The blend of off ice training and meetings with quality ice time enhances total muscle group development.  The end result is a bigger, quicker, stronger, faster, smarter and classier athlete.  Below is an example of a typical schedule:

WHEN DO I NEED TO CHECK IN OR CHECK OUT?

Registration is every Sunday from 12 (NOON) to 2pm at the camp.  You can check in late if you arrive late due to travel.

The Saturday that your camper will leave, consists of a game in the morning and check out following that game.  Game schedules are posted on Friday mornings in the Pro Shop and are now available on our website.  You can then plan to pick your child up after the game.  Parents, friends and other relatives are allowed to attend games.  The games start as early as 9:00am and end as late as 3:00pm.

WHAT DO I BRING TO CAMP?

bullet

Bring your own toiletries and personal items.

bullet

Bed linen (for a twin size bed) pillow and blanket.  Most campers use a sleeping bag.

bullet

Towels for bathing and swimming.

bullet

Clothing should be suitable for physical activity. Sweat pants, T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, lightweight jacket, swimsuit, tennis shoes and a pair of running shoes. Make sure campers have proper running shoes.  There is a lot of running and jumping and the proper tennis shoes will help prevent injury.

bullet

Full Hockey Gear is required.  Campers hockey gear will be left at the rink.  Make sure they bring an extra stick to use on the shooting range.  The shooting range is outside and on concrete so it should not be a expense stick.  We have some available in the pro shop.

bullet

Rollerblades if you have them. Not a necessity but there is a trail outside of camp that we use to take kids to Nisswa or Dairy Queen.  It is a great opportunity for kids to rollerblade.

bullet

Fishing is available in your down time but you must bring you own fishing gear.  Some counselors will take their groups out on our pontoon boat for fishing.  It is a great time.

bullet

If you have a FAN or alarm clock you might want to bring them as well.  Some rooms are air-conditioned, some are not.

WHAT NOT TO BRING TO CAMP?

bullet

Any electrical items such as cell phones, TV, DVD players, MP3 players, IPODs, CD headphones or computers.  MHC is not responsible for lost or stolen properties at camp.

bullet

Any weapons such as knives or guns of any sort.  If we think it will hurt someone we reserve the right to take it any.  Not only that but we also reserve the right to check any campers bag for weapons.

bullet

Don't pack food.  We have snacks and dinners available.  Bringing food only promotes dirty rooms and ants.  We do live in the woods!!

WHERE IS THE ICE RINK?

MHC uses the Brainerd Area Civic Center located at 502 Jackson Street, Brainerd, MN 56401.  It has two sheets of ice and enough locker rooms for each group at MHC to have and store their hockey equipment for the entire week.

WHAT AIRPORT DO I FLY INTO?

You must fly into the Brainerd Airport.  Northwest Airlines/Mesba is the only airline that flies into that airport.  We have shuttles that can pick campers up from this airport ($25 one way).  You must make all of you own flight arrangements and call the camp with the information. Visit www.brainerd.com/airport  for more information.

WHAT IS THE PRO SHOP BANK ACCOUNT?

The Pro Shop Bank account is just that, a bank account.  All campers are required to put ALL of their cash into the bank.  This way campers never have to have money on them with the chance of it getting lost or stolen.  Campers deposit their money and can buy things at the pro shop without by telling us what they want and we will deduct it from their account.  If a camper wants to go off campus and buy something they can withdraw cash out for their trip.  And if any money remains at the end of their sessions we will refund all of that money.  We recommend $30-$40 a week per kid!  To increase money in your kids Pro Shop Account please email Carrie Grillo.
